Succulents

Hello Succulents! Most recent I discovered the beauty of these lil guys. It all started when I was looking for centerpiece ideas to place on top of my dining room table. I wanted something simple not overly done, but beautiful. As I was searching on Pinterest I came across this photo from HGTV and  knew immediately that's what I wanted, right down to the rustic bowl!

I quickly did some research on these lovelies to learn more about them. See I have a brown thumb and know nothing about gardening. I mean I'm talkin zero, zilch, nada! And if I wanted a non-artificial indoor plant then I would have to know more than just putting soil in a pot. Luckily for me I learned that they are fairly easy to maintain and are especially for those that don't have a "green thumb", Yes please!

I couldn't get my hands on them fast enough so I made a trip to Home Depot and bought 8 of them.

Next, was finding a bowl pictured like the one above. I knew I had seen one similar at Pier 1 and what do you know - there it was, the very last one too. Now all that needs to be done is to put it all together!

Guess you know what I'll be doing this weekend. I have a few other projects lined up as well so be sure to check back next week to see my new centerpiece. Have a safe and wonderful weekend!

    1. Agree! I always thought you had to live in the desert to have one of these. What do I know though :)

  4. I have always envied displays that had succulents in them! But like you, I feel like I'd kill anything that comes my way, so I never gave them a shot. If they work for you, they may work for me. I can't wait to see how your pinterest inspired display turns out! :)

  5. I love succulents! They are more popular now than ever. Velvet and Linen turned me out to them. They really are pretty with all of the different colors and textures. And that is the perfect bowl for them. I think your selections are perfect!

  7. We must be on the same wavelength as I just posted about the practice succulent bouquet I made for my upcoming wedding :) Our centerpieces are going to be succulent arrangements much like your inspiration photo that we're making ourselves..can't wait to see your finished piece!

  8. Good move on the succulents - they can't be killed if you tried! I've had a bucket filled with them for years. They've survived a couple of moves, winter weather and never being watered and they thrive!

  9. I used to be so anti succulents, but then more varieties became available and it changed my mind. I even recently planted some! That bowl in the HGTV picture looks like they have another dish on top of it or is that part of the bowl? I can't believe you found the same exact one!

  11. I know very little about keeping plants alive too (in fact every single plant that I have ever kept has died)! These look like they could survive my gardening curse though – can’t wait to see how it turns out!

  13. I can't wait to see it all put together! I've been wanting to pick up some succulents for myself. They sound like the perfect plant for someone like me who forget to water plants...
