Tuesday is here and my week is just starting. How was your weekend? Sunday was my sons 13th birthday...yep the big one three. He is officially what you call a teenager. Not a bad thing but not necessarily a good thing either, ha! We celebrated by having some good ole' pizza at a restaurant then proceeded to bring the party home and have a few of his friends over. Overall he had a wonderful birthday!
In addition to celebrating my sons' special day, I was finally able to paint our kitchen pantry door. When I saw that Lyndsay from That 70's House had painted her dining room walls, I knew I wanted a similar color tone. She used Martha Stewart's Seal and it looks amazingly awesome.
So I headed over to Home Depot to check out the color in person. I wanted a dark color, think charcoal black. Unfortunately for me it was more of a dark gray. It's actually a stunning shade but it wasn't "dark" enough for me so I stepped it up a notch and went with MS Zinc in semi gloss. Hubby spraypainted the door with primer followed by 2 heavy coats of paint. This is the end result.
Ahhh much better! We had actually debated between a few other colors but in the end, hubby and I were glad we chose this color. Any painting projects you tackled this weekend?

Mandy,
ReplyDeleteI love the color of your new door! It looks so rich! We had a fun weekend here, too!
blessings,
karianne
Thanks Karianne. Were diggin the new color as well :)
DeleteOooh love that colour! It's looks so sophisticated (and what a fancy fridge)!
ReplyDeleteHaha, you noticed the fridge! You'll be seeing glimpses here and there of our new kitchen until I reveal it :)
DeleteThe door looks pretty! Not sure how you had time to do that with a birthday party, lol. I'd love to paint the one french door in our kitchen black but my husband won't go for it (Not sure if that's because he doesn't like the idea or he would be the one painting it, ha).
ReplyDeleteHave a great Tuesday!
Yeah husbands are not to keen on doing these types of projects, but luckily hubby used his spray gun so he had no problems doing it. Have a great evening!
DeleteI love the color! The black is a great accent!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tiffany! I love black as well it's so classy and chic.
DeleteLove black doors, Ive painted all mine and love them! Looks great!!! Wish l would've spray painted instead using a brush! Way to go!
ReplyDeleteWow, would really love to see yours. It really is so much easier spray painting them.
DeleteIt looks great!! Lyndsay's transformation is so stunning too! Sounds like your son had a great bday as well!! :)
ReplyDeleteYes love Lyndsay's dining room! My son sure did have a blast, anything that involves gifts and friends makes his day:)
DeleteI think it looks wonderful! Great job! I actually painted the inside of my front door this past weekend. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic, Mandy! It's amazing what a little paint can do. Welcome to teenage son land!
ReplyDeleteI painted the doors in my bedroom black, so a little darker than yours, but I love them. So much more interesting than the plain white. Yours looks perfect!
