Done! My abstract art is finally finished! Halle-Freakin-Lujah.
Rather than making another long trip to Ikea and purchasing another frame not to mention finding the perfect gold spray paint - yada yada - I decided to order one online. It arrived alot quicker that I expected it to, within 3 days to be exact.
After my failed project (you can see that post here) I thought it would be much easier for me just to buy a gold frame and....... it was. I realized not all things are diy friendly even if it is made to look easy.
I decided to go with only one of my art paintings instead of hanging both of them. I can always hang the other one in another room. Afterall there's no such thing as too much art!
The frame is 30 x 40 in a pretty shiny gold finish. I got the black matt from Hobby Lobby and had them custom cut to fit my abstract art. And with that it now hangs proudly in my kitchen/breakfast room area.
Oh and if your wondering what happened to the frame from Ikea, lets just say it's in a place where vehicles and storage go. If you live in the DMV area feel free to pick it up!

Love love love it! The gold frame makes it looks so sophisticated and chic!
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you Meghan!
DeleteLooks great!! And you made that long trip to Ikea on a weekend for that frame that didn't work out? Ugh! I don't blame you!
ReplyDeleteI know but at least I got to eat some swedish meatballs thats always a plus :)
Deleteoooooo, I want! I want! Good grief... this is super cool. First I love the abstracting painting (my house is calling for it) and the gold frame was a great choice. It's slim and simple, modern and sophisticated... which is perfect for a painting like this. The results are amazing. If you get tired of looking at it... I'll be more than happy to take it off your hands. (giggle).
ReplyDeleteThanks Stacey! I'm always changing things up so I will gladly pass it to ya :)
DeleteIt looks awesome...if I didn't know better, I'd think you bought that art! I'm glad you didn't have to drive all the way back to IKEA!
ReplyDeleteawww thanks for the compliment! It was really fun making it. I dont know if I will do it again though, hehe
DeleteI just did an abstract b/w painting, too, and bought a cheap put it together yourself frame at Michael's that I am going to spray gold. I'm afraid that's your failed project -- uh oh -- going to see your older post now. Anyway, this looks GREAT!!

Go for it! Don't be afraid, you won't know unless you give it a shot. Can't wait to see it :)
DeleteIt turned out amazing! It seriously looks like a professionally painted picture and framing job!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sam (huge smile)
DeleteIt looks awesome! I love that thin gold frame with it; perfect!
ReplyDeleteYou did great! It's very sophisticated and looks like a professional painted it.
ReplyDeleteThe gold frame is perfection. It's totally acceptable to buy something that already looks like you want it to look. :) (I have to remind myself of this often.)
