Progress and Setbacks

Friday, March 2, 2012

It's official,we now have door handles on all of our kitchen cabinets. A major progress if you ask me compared to last week. Matt also got around to adding the new espresso veneer that has been sitting in the kitchen corner for two weeks now.

But, just when we thought things were going smoothly we realized we needed more custom
moldings and wood panels for our island ,so now this little problem is going to set us back another two weeks since its custom order. Instead of letting it get the best of us we are are going to move on forward as planned and just suck it up.

Tommorrow is another day and we get to sample two different styles of backsplash. We keep going back and forth between travertine tile and stainless steel. You see our problem lies on our granite. It has specs of gold, black, and gray and can be daunting to find a backsplash that coordinates without it looking too busy.

It came with our newly built house so we had no say, otherwise if it were up to us we would have done a solid color of something along the lines of dark or really light. As the saying goes beggars can't be choosers and I'm sticking with that!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Today I'm proud to feature Evie from Brown Paper Packages. Evie shared with us how to make custom roman shades she made for her master bedroom. Now, who doesn't love some prettiness on there windows?

I mainly have curtains on mine but thats because shades can be a bit pricey. However, now with Evie's tutorial I can say I will be having me some roman shades very soon. Be sure to check out her blog to get her extensive tutorial. Thank you Evie for sharing this fantastic project with us.

DIY Jewelry Organizer

Monday, February 27, 2012

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. We spent our productive time adding some new door handles onto our cabinets and enjoying this lovely weather with the kiddos.

I also got around to making me an organizer for my jewelry. I was tired of seeing my earrings and necklaces all tangled up and just thrown in my bathroom drawer. I can't even begin to tell you how much jewelry I had to throw away due to this. So I wasted no time, making a home for them.

All I did was take some plywood board - covered it in fabric, stapled it to the back and added some eye hooks . Total cost to make was $7.00. Enjoy!
