Color Me Happy

Thursday, May 24, 2012

If you follow the latest fashion trends, then you probably have noticed neon is the new color trend for 2012. It's the new color on the block! Not only have I've seen an eyeful of bright colors such as yellows, pinks and greens used in the catwalk but it's now catched on to art, stationary and be still your hearts.... furniture.

Definitely not for the faint hearted, but its actually fun to see how funky bold colors are being used in interior design these days. I admit the brightest thing I own in my home goes as far as highlighters and nail polish. What can I say I'm rather boring! Here are some eyecandy I recently came across!
Loving the green tufted sofa with sprinkles of fushia in this living room.

What a great color combo usage of gray and lime green used in this kitchen.

The chardonnay yellow sofa really sets the tone for this lovely room. Very bohemian!

Never under estimate the power of paint! The yellow doors really brighten up this space.

Chelsey from Penelope's Pad used aqua, green and gray hues to create a fun and unique look in her dining room.

How do you feel about this color trend? Will you be adding a punch of neon in your home?

Weekend Recap

Tuesday, May 22, 2012

Tuesday is here and my week is just starting. How was your weekend? Sunday was my sons 13th birthday...yep the big one three. He is officially what you call a teenager. Not a bad thing but not necessarily a good thing either, ha! We celebrated by having some good ole' pizza at a restaurant then proceeded to bring the party home and have a few of his friends over. Overall he had a wonderful birthday!

In addition to celebrating my sons' special day, I was finally able to paint our kitchen pantry door.  When I saw that Lyndsay from That 70's House had painted her dining room walls, I knew I wanted a similar color tone. She used Martha Stewart's Seal and it looks amazingly awesome.

So I headed over to Home Depot to check out the color in person. I wanted a dark color, think charcoal black. Unfortunately for me it was more of a dark gray. It's actually a stunning shade but it wasn't "dark" enough for me so I stepped it up a notch and went with MS Zinc in semi gloss. Hubby spraypainted the door with primer followed by 2 heavy coats of paint. This is the end result.

Ahhh much better! We had actually debated between a few other colors but in the end, hubby and I were glad we chose this color.  Any painting projects you tackled this weekend?
